Job Description:  Installer / Mechanic for Custom Shop

 

Job Type:  Full AND Part-Time available


At FlexBilt Customs, we are a close knit family-first company that treats ALL employees with respect. To prove it, we have actual equity options for employees and managers. Started by a serial entrepreneur (9th business) that knows how to run companies. We also understand, without great employees, we will never be successful.

We are in need of mechanics / installer of truck, Jeep, & SUV accessories. Employees will be responsible for installation of all types of accessories including, but not limited to, bed covers, grille guards, winches (Warn), hitches, lifts and leveling kits, alignment, tires, wheels, spray-in bedliner (Raptor Liner), light-bars & light pods, after-market front & rear bumpers, roof racks, and basic 12-volt/direct-current (DC) electrical wiring and switches.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES will include, but not limited to, installation of accessories listed above, modification of off-the-shelf accessories, basic maintenance duties (oil changes, some brake jobs), possess and utilize good decision-making skills, must have proper tools for job requirements (some in-house tools will be available), must have a dependable source of transportation, possess skills needed to operate a fork-lift, tire-changer, electric lifts, welder, etc. MOST IMPORTANTLY, a good work ethic, attitude, and the ability to maintain a clean work-space on a consistent basis.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ mechanic experience

  • Skilled in direct-current (DC) electrical projects (automotive, side-by-sides, etc. - light bar installation)

  • Welding and fabrication experience-MIG and ARC a plus, Tig aluminum and stainless a major plus

  • Plasma cutter & acetylene torch experience preferred but not required

  • CNC Mill & lathe machinist skills a major plus but not required

  • Be familiar with automotive mechanical to include suspensions, alignment, and repair

  • Must possess a valid Alabama or Georgia driver’s license

 

Pay:  Per hour commensurate to your experience - paid every Friday (one week held back)

Job Description:  Custom Shop Manager
 

Requirements/Responsibilities::  As Custom Auto Shop Manager, your duties will include but not limited to:
 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the custom shop. Supervises four to five non-supervisory employees and one assistant shop manager/sales manager in a team environment. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable Alabama employment laws.

Responsibilities also include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.

  • Complete shop operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.

  • Maintain shop staff by recruiting, selecting, and training employees.

  • Ensuring availability of parts and services are covered by maintaining inventories and talented personnel.

  • Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.

  • Maintains the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal & safety requirements.

  • Protects employees and customers by providing a safe and clean shop and store environment.

  • Assist owner with marketing strategy changes by reviewing operating and financial statements and departmental sales records.

  • Maintains operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing the correct processes, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and /or ability required. 

Experience: Two to four years supervisory/management experience MINIMUM. Previous auto shop, custom shop, and/or wheel and tire experience is one of the most important requirement.
Language Ability: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business principles, technical procedures and basic instructions. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from upper management, shop employees, vendors, customers and the general public. Ability to speak Spanish a major plus.
Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply spreadsheet analysis to compare month over month data.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Inventory software; Payroll systems; and Internet-based software.
Certificates and Licenses: Valid Alabama drivers license with a clean MVR.

Shop Manager offers competitive pay commensurate of past experience.  This is for serious applicants who want to come in and make a significant difference in this unique startup with a successful serial entrepreneur!

Prior managerial experience as general manager, automotive store manager, auto dealership related management experience, automotive custom shop managerial experience, or, at a minimum, retail management experience is very important to the success at this job.
